The Rockhampton St Patrick’s Day Race Club Committee race meeting that was scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 has been abandoned.      However, the Club have kindly allowed the RJC to promote the March 19 meeting as St Patrick’s Day Races.
 
St Patrick’s Day Races is one of the most popular events on the Rockhampton social calendar. This year with many in the region adversely affected by the floods it will be a welcome opportunity to relax and enjoy a day at Callaghan Park with family and friends whilst enjoying six local races and the popular Fashions on the Field.
 
For many years the St Patrick’s Day Race Club has enjoyed a strong association with   Catholic Education enabling much needed funds to be raised for Catholic Primary Schools in the Rockhampton Region. The good news is that Catholic Education will still be involved in this year’s race day on March 19 run by the Rockhampton Jockey Club.
 
Catholic Education will be conducting a luncheon function in the upper level of the Public Grandstand.  All proceeds raised from this luncheon function will be donated to the Catholic Schools’ Flood Relief Appeal to be distributed to Catholic school communities devastated by the recent floods.  Ticket prices for the luncheon and further details regarding the day will be available on the RJC website www.callaghanpark.com.au
 
In addition Catholic Education will be conducting a raffle, lucky gate prizes and Fashions in the Field competition. 

The Rockhampton Jockey Club hopes everyone in the CQ region will be able to join us for the March 19, St Patrick’s Day Races to help support the racing and local community of Rockhampton as we all begin to re-establish ourselves after the recent floods.
