Rockhampton races preview November 27
November 26, 2018
THE Rockhampton Jockey Club’s Darryn Nufer found 4 of the 7 winners at the last meeting with his on-top selections and previews the Callaghan Park card tomorrow.
Race 1 – Small field to kick off the day and last start winner Casino Thoughts looks the one. Gets the gun run from the inside gate and whatever beats him wins. Four Excel is capable of running an improved race in this company. Colosseum King has been racing in good form and can’t be discounted. Not sure the northern form is strong enough for Saba Lass to be winning but in small fields you just never know do you?
SELECTIONS: Casino Thoughts; Four Excel; Colosseum King; Saba Lass.
Race 2 – The Stockbroker has drawn ideally in barrier one and with Justin Stanley up this looks a good race for him to kick off his career following two nice trial efforts last month. Whitty Girl was no match for Better Reflection here on debut a couple of weeks back but will derive benefit from that run. Craiglea Harvey ran into a smart one in Mad Irish Tycoon at Townsville on debut and just has to overcome the wide alley here to feature. Mia Singa was beaten a fair way behind Master Jamie here on Breeders Plate Day but the latter has since run well in Brisbane Saturday grade so that franks the form.
SELECTIONS: The Stockbroker; Whitty Girl; Craiglea Harvey; Mia Singa.
Race 3 – Miss De Mirage ran okay resuming recently despite being an alarming betting drifter ($7 to $31) and she has always shown some ability. De Losko has been knocking on the door and shouldn’t be far away again. Lady Mirabella could be ready to fire and have to respect the trainer/jockey combo. Style Line can’t be ruled out on two satisfactory runs so far this prep.
SELECTIONS: Miss De Mirage; De Losko; Lady Mirabella; Style Line.
Race 4 – Surely today is the day, right? Rise To Fame has been breaking my heart but we’ll butter up again. Change of jockey might offer something different and change the fortunes and the horse certainly has the form to be winning. Durif has been racing well and drawn to get a good run. Let Me Say This does go well fresh. Turkey Beach is finding it hard to win but is always around the mark.
SELECTIONS: Rise To Fame; Durif; Let Me Say This; Turkey Beach.
Race 5 – Suspect Garnett Taylor’s debutant Bold Zip will be too good for these and the market should tell the story if that’s the case. Attique is nearing a win and drawn low helps. Have to respect Nat McCall when she travels here and Viserion should be in the mix on southern form. Poetic Reality has drawn awkwardly but top hoop engaged to counter that.
SELECTIONS: Bold Zip; Attique; Viserion; Poetic Reality.
Race 6 – Sirius Black resumed in good order recently and can go one better. Magic Word has been racing well and will be running home. Frugal has also been going great and can measure up despite rise in grade. Hidden Goddess can fly under the radar a bit but is talented on her day.
SELECTIONS: Sirius Black; Magic Word; Frugal; Hidden Goddess.
Race 7 – Everything points to Spring Creek here. Well in at the weights, finally a good draw, top run last time and trainer has a good opinion of her. The one to beat. Ruffy Road is hard to catch but is capable of running into the money. Proane is not a horse of mine but this doesn’t look an overly strong race on paper. Tang Dynasty is the query runner. Not a flash strike rate but this stable can improve them.
SELECTIONS: Spring Creek; Ruffy Road; Proane; Tang Dynasty.
