PROPOSAL TAKES ROCKHAMPTON RACING SPEND TO $10 MILLION

Racing Queensland Limited (RQL) today released its Industry Infrastructure Plan which recommends another $4 million be spent at Callaghan Park on top of the $6 million which has already been invested at Rockhampton's premier thoroughbred and greyhound facility.   RQL Chairman Bob Bentley said the entire multi-million dollar plan is about using existing industry venues more strategically, creating new multi-use facilities and modernising racing operations.   "RQL and the Rockhampton Jockey Club have benefited greatly from their existing partnership and racing in the Capricornia region has thrived," Mr Bentley said. “Should this Industry Infrastructure Plan be implemented it would provide the single biggest capital injection into the Queensland racing industry. “For some, change will be too difficult to even contemplate, let alone embrace. While it is impossible to please everyone, doing nothing is not an option."
