Talented apprentice Brooke Johnson hopes to be riding in races again as early as next week. Johnson who has been out of action with a broken arm since the start of June said she is keen to get back to the races. With 90 victories beside her name, Johnson was injured when a horse she was leading lashed out and hit her right arm. She subsequently underwent surgery and had a metal plate screwed into her forearm to repair a break as well as having a dislocated elbow put back into place.

On Wednesday morning at Yeppoon, Johnson rode at the official trials and steered home two winners for her boss Clinton Taylor. She won on Travelling Sweet in a 900m Maiden Heat, and Say It Loud an easy victor over its stablemate Secret Sins (Justin Stanley) in another 900m Maiden Heat.  Johnson visited her doctor this week for a medical clearance to return to race riding.
