Racing Queensland’s Marty Synan inspected the Callaghan Park track ahead of Friday’s return to racing, giving the Club the green light following September’s track renovations.

On Tuesday morning, three horses galloped on the course proper under the watchful eye both of Synan and QRIC Steward Mr Ethan Suli, with both officials and track riders happy with the surface.

Following the gallops, very little marking was visible, with only a few divots down the straight, while riders reported some areas of the track felt better than others.

Synan, along with RJC Track Curator Damon Quigley, walked the track post-gallops and supplied the following data.

7mm irrigation had been applied on Monday night and 41mm the past 7 days.

Moisture levels were between 30% and 40% and consistent around the entire circumference of the track.

Today’s Penetrometer was 6.2, Soft 7 with the rail in the +4m position

The track will now receive its final cut at 100m on Tuesday, with Synan suggesting its at 90% following the renovations, while it’ll continue to improve over the next few weeks, leading up to Caulfield Cup Day, Melbourne Cup Day and Breeders Plate Day.

The RJC tracks team will continue to monitor the moisture and irrigate as required.

Irrigation works will continue on, with the outside completed and more works to take place on the inside irrigation and sand training track.
