Three last-start winners Lonhy’s Fabre, The Home Team, and Better Than Words could be in for a head-to-head clash in the program opener for the Prostate Cancer Awareness races at Yeppoon on Tuesday.

The race day, the second of two Rockhampton Jockey Club September meetings at Keppel Park has brought together a good card of seven races to start at 1.07 pm.

The local Prostate Cancer Awareness Group will be at the track with the day featuring the Graeme Dougan Memorial BM65 Handicap (1800m), and the John Milne Memorial QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap (1000m).

The TAB QTIS Three-year-old Handicap (1300m) opens the meeting. Lonhy’s Fabre has had just the one start for trainer Ricky Vale and owner Liam Goody and came home with the cash from Mackay, earlier this month. Ridden by Ash Butler, the Dracary’s gelding chased down its opponents to win the Vale Frank Paul Maiden (1100m) at Ooralea on 5 September.

Third in that race was the Nick Walsh-trained The Home Team, which returned to Mackay earlier this week and won its Maiden over 1100m. If The Home Team makes a quick backup, the pair will spar again at Yeppoon.

Better Than Words, has the advantage of already winning at Keppel Park. Ryan Wiggins rode the John Wigginton-trained galloper to win its Maiden at Yeppoon over the 1300m distance, two weeks ago, Wiggins is back in the saddle on Tuesday.  Wigginton will also return Last Ditch Effort to Yeppoon. The Reward For Effort five-year-old made a successful Queensland debut for his new trainer at Keppel Park two weeks ago in a BM 60 Handicap (1000m). Wiggins steered him that day and will also ride him on Tuesday.

The Open Handicap (1100m) has drawn together a handy field of eight. Topweight Blue Kentucky Moon (Graeme Green/Bubba Tilley) only needs to find his best form to be right in the thick of things at the finish. The 10-time winner showed a glimpse of his best last month when second at Mackay over 1050m. But the seven-year-old is giving away plenty of weight to the likes of Letmeletgo, Aspen Lad, Captain Fox, Courtesy Bus, Janean, Srini, and Frostin.
