RQ is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Henderson as Chief Starter Specialist.

Matt is no stranger, having worked at RQ from 2009-2016 as Chief Starter before he was seconded to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) as Raceday Operations Manager.

Matt is an industry authority, having served as an apprentice jockey in NSW in the 1980s and working in various roles in NSW and QLD such as barrier attendant, clerk of the course, trackwork supervisor, assistant starter and head starter (including at the Australian Turf Club) and farm management roles.

Matt aims to attend as many race meetings as possible in his first few months at RQ role in order to meet and engage with all industry participants.

On Tuesday he was at Callaghan Park working alongside RJC start Chace Greenhill and the barrier staff.

His primary objective will be to ensure a safe working environment for all participants in Queensland.

RJC CEO, David Aldred.
