Planes, Trains and Automobiles – Raul returns to Rocky on Monday.

Raul Silvera Olivera is in transit from South America to Australia. The Uruguayan jockey who had to leave Rockhampton earlier this year when his initial work visa expired, will likely be riding at Callaghan Park early next month.

With a new temporary six-month work visa issued to him by the Department of Home Affairs earlier this week, the jockey wasted little time in organising his return to Rocky, and he emailed me today to say, “Hey I got tickets for Saturday the 21st (September), we will arrive in Brisbane on the 23rd at noon and there, we will take the train to Rockhampton.”

The international jockey’s decision to ride again this season at Callaghan Park is certain to be celebrated by the local owners and trainers.

Not only is Raul a great addition to the jockey ranks for the race days in CQ and NQ, but he is also one of the busiest track riders in the business.
