Rockhampton Racing Preview: Thursday 13th August, 2026

A seven-race card at Rockhampton on Thursday will kick off the 26/27 racing season, with Race 1 scheduled for 1:17pm.

The RJC will recognise last season’s premiership winners with a trophy presentation for the Premier Trainer (Clinton Taylor), Premier Jockey (Warwick Satherley), Premier Apprentice Jockey (Stephanie Tierney) and Premier Racehorse (Pride Of Venus), after the completion of Race 4 in the Members’ Lounge.

After finishing second in last season’s Trainers Premiership, Sunshine Coast-based trained Stuart Kendrick will bring a strong team of four to Callaghan Park, in a bid to make an early impression on the new season.

Kendrick will combine with stable apprentice Steph Tierney in all four races, with their first coming up in Race 2, the TAB Class 5 Handicap (1400m), with Warna.

Warna, a two-time runner-up at Rockhampton, has been mixing his form of late, finishing 3.7-lenghts off the winner at Doomben a fortnight ago.

The pair will combine again in Race 3, a 1050m Maiden Handicap, with debutant Our Girl Snip.

The 3YO daughter of Worthy Cause has shown good ability at the trials, winning her latest at Deagon under Tierney.

Kendrick and Tierney will look to close out the afternoon in the Vale Wendy Mulry Class 1 Handicap (1100m) with Doubtwilly, who ran a game second at Callaghan Park on the final day of the season when second behind Jungle Rhythm.

A large turnout is expected back at Callaghan Park on Friday morning, to celebrate the life of the Late Wendy Mulry, who sadly passed away last month at age 69.

Mulry, a long-time supporter of racing in Rockhampton, was an icon of our Club for a long time, sitting on the committee in recent years, while also being a popular figure throughout the wider Rockhampton community.

The celebration of Wendy’s life will begin at 11am on Friday morning in the Members Lounge at Callaghan Park.

RJC Racing Liaison Officer, Nick Lloyd.
