Rockhampton Racing Preview: Tuesday 21st July, 2026.

Seven races will be set out for decision at Callaghan Park on Tuesday, in what will be the Club’s first meeting since July 11’s TAB Rockhampton Cup program.
Mackay trainer Lachie Manzelmann will bring two gallopers south on Tuesday, as he looks to add to his hot recent run of success.
Manzelmann raced six horses at Callaghan Park over the Rocky Cup Carnival, and while he didn’t have a winner, his $101 shot Red Hot Lizzie ran a slashing second in the $100,000 One Syndications Rockhampton Newmarket on Friday, before Journalism was an unlucky fourth in the $150,000 TAB Rockhampton Cup.
Those two gallopers made amends on Friday at Mackay, with the pair making up two of the three winners that Manzelmann trained on the Mackay Newmarket program.
Red Hot Lizzie backed up her terrific Rocky Newmarket placing with a dominant win in the Mackay Newmarket, making it a Manzelmann quinella with Outback Action finishing second, just 30 minutes after Journalism took out the H.L. Black Memorial.
With 15 winners and a further 26 minor placegetters from his last 100 starters, Manzelmann will be hoping that the good times keep rolling this week.
Manzelmann will saddle up one-time $190,000 yearling Cochrane in The RJC Salute Rob Carr Handicap (Race 4) over 1050m, while he’ll link with Rockhampton Cup-winning jockey Ryan Wiggins in Race 6.
Cochrane, a winner of 12 races, brings some good form to this 1050m contest, winning first-up over 800m at Thangool four starts ago, before finishing midfield behind his stablemates Red Hot Lizzie and Outback Action at his next two starts.
Tahlia Fenlon will reunite with the 7YO gelding after not riding him for almost two years to the day as she chases her third win aboard the sprinter from just five rides.
The Mackay-based horseman will then leg up Ryan Wiggins aboard Hot Torque In Vegas in Race 6, a 0-55 Handicap (1050m), as the 4YO looks to make it win number three at start 19. The son of Too Darn Hot ran a good on-speed second at Townsville first-up, so he’ll be looking to go one better on Tuesday.
Following Tuesday’s races, Manzelmann’s attention will turn to Saturday as he looks to win his hometown Cup, with Rocky Cup fourth placegetter Journalism sure to be a leading contender.
Race 1 at Callaghan Park will jump at 1:04pm, with the last set to be run and won at 4:47pm.
