This year’s Rockhampton Jockey Cub, TAB Capricornia Yearling Sale 2YO Classic winner Kerzner will do his future racing in Hong Kong after being sold for an undisclosed sum by his ownership group this week.
The Sun City – Halle McOllywill youngster was purchased at the Capricornia Yearling Sale by Victorian race caller Ric McIntosh’s Victorian Queensland Project ownership group for $18,000 in 2024 and has raced twice so far earning almost $100,000.
McIntosh got in touch with me with the news. “You better update the Callaghan Park website mate, another Capricornia Sale graduate is going to Honkers,” he said.
Kerzner, trained by Sunshine Coast’s Liam Birchley to win the Classic at Callaghan Park last season, is now a three-year-old, still with his entire future in front of him.
McIntosh also has Kerzner’s two-year-old half-brother by Smart Missile, making it a full brother to Missile Thunder, a Cairns -based galloper who was an exceptionally smart NQ two-year-old winning six races in succession. Missile Thunder, now six, has won 11 races so far, with his earnings creeping close to $300,000.
Other members of Kerzner’s maternal family include Australian Oaks winner Rena’s Lady, Gold Coast Silk Stocking winner Boisterous Lady and VRC St Leger winner Vatuvei.
