Callaghan Park racecourse’s busy sand training track underwent a renovation grading on Thursday in preparation for the high traffic expected to use the facility in the coming weeks.

With perfect weather conditions, it was decided to undertake a full grade of the sand surface. Track manager Trent Williams said an average of 120 horses per day work on the sand track, and with a busy racing and trialing schedule there are very few opportunities for staff and contractors to undertake major works. The course proper has its annual major turf renovation at the end of August.
