The Rocky Amateurs and the Rockhampton Jockey Club are delighted to announce an ongoing tenancy agreement for the running of the CQ Amateur Race Day, featuring the $1,000,000 The Archer at Callaghan Park in 2025.
The collaboration between the two registered Clubs will ensure the richest race and race day in Central Queensland, featuring the weight-for-age Slot Race, The Archer can continue to grow and prosper.
The Archer has thrived since its inception a few years ago and the Rocky Amateurs are keen to secure the future of the race in Rockhampton.
“We are very enthusiastic about our successful signature race, The Archer, and we are extremely pleased to announce that it will continue to be raced at Callaghan Park,” Rocky Amateurs Chairman, Bill Reid said.
“The CQARC are determined that the richest race in Regional Queensland will not only survive, but thrive, and this agreement provides our committee with a platform to make this happen.”
RJC Chairman Rob Carr echoed Mr. Reid’s comments. Mr. Carr won the inaugural The Archer with his Slot nominee, Emerald Kingdom in May 2022.
“Callaghan Park racecourse is the Hub of racing in regional Queensland and The Archer has become the race on the annual calendar that everyone wants to win – we are very pleased that we have been able to formalise a mutually beneficial ongoing tenancy agreement for the Rocky Amateurs,” he said.
Both the CQARC and the RJC have already started planning for next year’s event and look forward to The Archer, Amateur Race Day being bigger and better than ever.
