There’s a touch of Black Caviar about Chinny Boom’s return at Caulfield on Saturday. The Rockhampton rocket steps out for the first time for the former Black Caviar race combination of Peter Moody and Luke Nolen in the Tour D’horse Sprint (1100m). Moody and Nolen became household names thanks to the unbeaten Black Caviar who sadly passed away just over a month ago.

At Caulfield, Chinny Boom looks to have a top chance of continuing her good Queensland form at her first Victorian start. Chinny Boom isn’t a Black Caviar but she is a real speedster who can somehow effortlessly find an electrifying dash to put away her opponents.

Racing 17 times for Rockhampton trainer Clinton Taylor, Chinny Boom has been in the money 13 times, winning nine races. With a 98 rating, only The Inferno (101) and It’sourtime (100) are rated higher for the event. Chinny Boom (Spirit of Boom) – Imanoremiss scored her last significant win in June, one run before going for a spell when she took out the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Ridden by Justin Stanley, Chinny Boom crossed to the lead by the 800m marker and drew away from a smart field to bolt in by 3.5 lengths. Bezique and Bubble Rock filled the minor placings. Last March, the five-year-old mare also won the Military Rose Plate (1100m) in super time at the Gold Coast. There’s a good chance Chinny Boom could run as the race favourite at Caulfield. In early betting, she is the $4.50 second pick with three-time winner Commemorative (James Cummings/Jamie Kah) the $4.30 early elect.
