Double header race days ahead for RJC at Callaghan Park

The Rockhampton Jockey Club’s busy week has just gotten a whole lot busier.
With Saturday’s Yeppoon Country Challenge Cup meeting abandoned, Racing Queensland liaised with the Club to transfer the meeting to Callaghan Park on Tuesday.
That means both the Yeppoon Races and the Rockhampton Races, nine in total, will all be run on the RJC’s program at Callaghan Park on Melbourne Cup Day.
What a bumper day of non-TAB racing CQ is in for!
Racing Queensland advised at 11.25 am on Saturday that all races scheduled for Yeppoon have been added to the (non-TAB) program at Rockhampton on Tuesday 4 November. These races will be run as the first five races on the (RJC) card with Race 1, commencing at 11.15 am. The race times for the original four Rockhampton races remain the same, but Race numbers have been amended.
“The Yeppoon race meeting, with the Yeppoon feature race the $15,000 Yeppoon ‘Country Challenge Qualifier’ Cup, is too important to be lost,” RJC CEO David Aldred said.
“We did not hesitate in making Callaghan Park available for these races to be run, even though we already had a four-race program scheduled here on Cup Day.
“It will be the more, the merrier and its should be one heck of a meeting to host on Australia’s biggest race day.”
Scratchings for these races have been reinstated. The 1000m races from Yeppoon will now be raced over 1050m and the meeting is now a provincial claim meeting.
Trainers have been asked to reconfirm jockey declarations by logging into the Racing Australia website.
Monday TAB races
The RJC will also have a six race TAB meeting on Monday, 3 November, with an additional meeting scheduled after six TAB races couldn’t be run last Thursday, due to a power failure.
The first race on Monday at Callaghan Park is scheduled to start at 12.57 pm.
