Rockhampton trainer Clinton Taylor went to $230,000 to acquire a full sister to his outstanding mare Chinny Boom at the Gold Coast March Magic Millions Sale this afternoon  (Tuesday).
Under much hype from the auctioneer, the imposing bay/brown Spirit Of Boom filly entered the sale ring at around 3.10pm as Lot 346.  Offered on behalf of Eureka Stud, Cambooya as agents, the price jumped quickly from $80K under a flurry of $20K and $10K bids in quick succession.
In the end however, Taylor prevailed and received a warm reception from the crowd on hand when the filly was knocked down for $230K. “She ticked all the boxes and knowing how good Chinny is I am delighted to be able to purchase her for some wonderful stable clients”, Clinton said.
He was referring to loyal clients Laird and Sonya Morgan from Condamine. It was there that Clinton first trained from before relocating to Rockhampton four seasons ago and becoming a dominant force.
The Morgan’s raced the 2023 Capricornia Classic 3 & 4Y0 winner Divine Purpose which was trained by Taylor at Callaghan Park.  It was purchased for $55K at the 2021 CYS in Rockhampton. It has been a huge week for the Taylor stable highlighted by Chinny Boom’s sensational win in the Military Rose at the Gold Coast last Saturday.
That took her record to eight wins from 13 starts for over $500K in stakes.  Last Friday he trained a winning double at Callaghan Park while also landing a winner at the Mackay TAB races yesterday (Monday). Taylor announced after Saturday’s Gold Coast flying win that Chiny Boom was now set to contest the $750K The WFA The Archer (1300m) at Callaghan Park on April 28.
She has been acquired by a slot holder in the race but the identity has been kept under wraps at this point. In all Clinton Taylor purchased five yearlings at the MM March Sale outlaying around $400K. Taylor was one of a strong buying bench from Rockhampton and Central  Queensland in attendance at the Gold Coast Sales. By late in the Sale on Tuesday, around 30 yearlings were purchased by Central Queenslanders.
The Capricornia Yearling Sale will be convened in Rockhampton on Sunday, April 7.
The Rockhampton Jockey Club race it’s highly popular St Pat’s Race Day at Callaghan Park on Saturday.
