It would come as no surprise to local racing fan that jockey Justin Stanley and trainer Clinton Taylor have all the running in the local premierships at Callaghan Park, in the first few months of the season, establishing bigger leads on their opponents than Pride Of Jenni did in the 2024 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.

Stanley began the year with a bang and with 21 winners so far is 17 wins in front of his nearest rival Sean Cormack. His winner to runner strike rate is an impressive 46.15%. Clinton Taylor has saddled up 15 local winners and is 10 wins in front of the next best trainer Jared Wehlow. His strike is slightly lower than Stanley’s but is also impressive at 43.33%. It’s early days in the premiership race with just 3.5 months of the season completed. Hellish got out of the blocks quickly in the Horse of The Year Stakes. He has won four Rockhampton Jockey Club races, three wins at Callaghan Park and one at Keppel Park and remains unbeaten from five starts this year. Trained by Taylor, Hellish scored his other victory for the season at Mackay ‘s Ooralea track in September. The RJC annual premierships cover all race meetings at Callaghan Park and two RJC meetings at Keppel Park during the 12-month period 1 August 2024 – 31 July 2025 inclusive.
