In light of yesterday’s irrigation malfunction at Callaghan Park, the investigation has been completed, with a cracked casing found internally on one of the sprinklers, due to an ever-ageing sprinkler system. Credit must go to CEO David Aldred and RJC Chairman Rob Carr for their leadership, level level-headed “let’s get it done” attitude in ensuring today’s TAB CYS Raceday could proceed in an exciting Rapid Racing format.

“We are sincerely grateful for the support of QRIC, Racing Queensland and TAB,” Rob Carr said. “To deliver the highly anticipated TAB CYS Raceday today, while minimising the impact on travelling trainers and jockeys, has been a significant undertaking.” Rob Carr continued, “Enormous credit goes to our entire RJC team, who have rallied and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring together a thrilling day of thoroughbred racing in the fast-paced ‘Rapid Racing format’.

This is a great example how we can adapt to change quickly and concisely for the benefit of all of our racing stakeholders, and, in this instance stage the hugely significant Capricornia Yearling Sales Raceday, without disruption to the scheduled Sunday Greyhound racing this afternoon.

” We welcome all members, vendors, guests and visitors to enjoy free entry at Callaghan Park today for a thrilling day of racing from 10.00am, then finish off the day at the 2026 Capricornia Yearling Sale at the Rockhampton Showgrounds, commencing at 2.30pm.
